A Twitter user who goes by @Madesonee_ used to work at an H&M clothing store in the Oculus at the World Trade Center in New York City. She did not like her job and decided to quit, but before she quit, she noticed something so disturbing that she had to tweet about it.

Madesonee was working at H&M when a customer noticed small bugs crawling all over a rack of new hoodies. The customer told Madesonee about the situation, and Madesonee in turn told her manager. On Twitter, she shared her disappointment over the store’s decision about how to handle the situation. She wrote, “They’re not closing the store nor are they notifying employees of the problem. The section was just blocked off.”

Madesonee also shared pictures of the bugs on the hoodies, and her post quickly went viral.

Many people who saw Madesonee’s tweet were grossed out by the bugs and the fact that the store was doing very little about the situation. Besides slamming H&M, Twitter users also praised Madesonee for being brave enough to share about this experience. Meanwhile, others shared their opinions about what kinds of bugs these are. Some said lice. Some said bed bugs. Some said carpet beetles.

H&M did eventually end up closing the store after Madesonee’s post went viral; however, Madesonee did not get in trouble for the post. She shared that she apologized to her manager. She didn’t expect her post to go viral, and she knows it’s not her manager’s fault.

A representative for H&M told The Daily Mail, “We take customer and employee safety extremely seriously. Out of an abundance of caution we have closed the H&M store at Westfield World Trade Center in order to investigate fully.”
