This past year has been a difficult one. Nobody is arguing that. To try to bring some light to the darkness, Pink and her 9-year-old daughter Willow collaborated on a song called “Cover Me with Sunshine.”

It all started when Pink was at home working on the song, and her daughter asked if she could sing with her mother on the song. Pink explained to Ellen DeGeneres, “I was just in there messing around with this song, and she was like, ‘Can I sing on it?’ and I was like, ‘Sure.’ And she was like, ‘Cool, I’m going swimming.’”

The idea for the song came about as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Pink shared that it was her way of processing everything that was going on. She explained, “We all know this year has been different and challenging and at times terrifying. I personally find comfort in music, I love singing with my daughter and my son.” Pink added, “We’re going to put it out for no reason than we hope that the song makes you feel happy.”

If the song itself doesn’t make you feel happy enough, her recent performance with her daughter probably will. Pink received the Icon award at the 2021 Billboard Music Awards, and she started her performance with her daughter.

At the beginning of Pink’s performance, she walks on stage carrying her daughter, Willow, in her arms. She gently lays Willow down on the stage and proceeds to start performing with the silks suspended above the stage. Pink’s athletic ability is definitely enviable and graceful.

Instead of simply singing “Cover Me with Sunshine,” Pink danced to it, and after just a few moments, her daughter joined her. Willow’s athletic ability is definitely on par with her mother, and watching the two perform together was magical and brought cheers from the audience.
