You don’t need an expensive ice-cream-maker, crazy ingredients or even special tools and containers to make your very own homemade ice cream. All you need is everybody’s favorite multitasking tool – the mason jar! – and our easy recipe.

The key here? Don’t over-shake the cream! You want to make sure this one turns into ice cream, not full-on butter or whipped cream. Just remember to shake that mason jar only until the cream coats the back of a spoon, making sure to stop before you reach a full whipped cream stage.

Serves: 2 servings
Difficulty: Easy
1 Cup Heavy Whipping Cream
1-2 Tablespoons Granulated Sugar (Can substitute with powdered sugar)
1/2 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
1/8 teaspoon Kosher Salt (Optional)
3-4 Fresh Strawberries (Optional), destemmed (Can substitute with other berries)
