Kaley Cuoco has been acting for decades. She stared on “8 Simple Rules” and “The Big Bang Theory.” Now, she’s voicing Harley Quinn on the animated show “Harley Quinn,” and she’s staring as Cassie Bowden on “The Flight Attendant.”

“The Flight Attendant” was originally only supposed to be one season, but it was such a hit, that two seasons have now been released and according to Cuoco, there eventually might be a season three.

Cuoco opened up to Variety about filming season two and how difficult it was for her considering she was going through a divorce at the same time. She explained, “It was one of the hardest years of my life. Not only personally, but doing this character that was so tormented. It was the first time that I started therapy — I’ve been very open about that. I started at the beginning of Season 2, just because I was going through so much right before we started shooting. It was horrible. And I developed a stress rash that ran all the way down my body for three straight months that wouldn’t go away. I literally, like, had fire on my leg for three months. I could barely walk.”

Things got so bad while filming that Cuoco actually called an intervention on herself. She said, “One month in, I had an intervention on myself in my trailer — all my producers were in there. And I said, ‘I need help.’ It was interesting to say that out loud. And to have everyone be like, ‘Yes, we want to help!'”

Cuoco clarified that she asked for help because she was having trouble dealing with her divorce. She called it “a super dark time.” She explained that she was trying to use work as a way of ignoring how depressed she felt but her “character was so depressed that it wasn’t helping me!”

In addition to asking for help and starting therapy, Cuoco also invited her co-star, Zosia Mamet, to be her roommate. She explained that Mamet had been staying in an Airbnb while filming, but her rental was almost over. Instead of renting another place, Cuoco invited her to move into her house. She explained, “I really needed someone with me. I was really losing my mind.”

Although it was not at all planned or intended, Cuoco felt that art was imitation life while she was filming season 2 of “The Flight Attendant,” and she used her real life emotions to portray her character. She explained, “The trauma I was going through probably helped whatever I needed to do for this season.” She added, “I truly feel like the pain I was going through, a lot of that was real on camera.”

Thankfully, Cuoco’s “super dark time” has come to an end. Even though she didn’t believe it when people told her there would eventually be light at the end of the tunnel, she has now found that light.
