Woman Kicked Out of Golden Corral Because Her Crop Top Was ‘Too Provocative’

A family outing to Golden Corral wound up being one woman’s last trip to the restaurant after she was kicked out by management. Sueretta Emke did not like how she was treated at an Erie, Pennsylvania location.

In a Facebook post, Emke stated that she and her family went to the establishment to celebrate her son’s birthday with some friends. When she went to the buffet line, a manager approached her and stated a customer complained that her clothing was too provocative.

According to Emke, the manager told her she would either need to put on something else or leave. There was an exchange at their table between her husband, her, and the manager, and the family ended up leaving.

She took to Facebook to complain about the incident, saying that she felt she was singled out for her outfit because she’s not thin. The restaurant manager and franchise owner said that there is no dress code policy in place but they will act upon a customer complaint.

“I have seen people in there wearing less and nothing is said to them but I really do believe something was said to me because I’m not thin so it’s not considered sexy.

I’ve never owned a crop top before and I was nervous at first about wearing it but my husband loved the way it looked on me and encouraged me to wear it since I liked it so much. I really felt cute in it and now I never wanna wear that shirt again even though it was the first time I ever wore it.”

After escalating things up to the district manager, Emke received an apology, some Golden Corral gift cards, and was told that a retraining will take place at that Erie location. She is appreciative of how things were resolved and, in her post, said that she hopes no one else gets treated the same way.
