The COVID-19 vaccine is here. You may have already been vaccinated, and if not, you probably know several people who have. Healthcare workers and first responders were among the first to get the vaccine, but now it has opened up to more people including senior citizens.

Dolly Parton is 75 years old, but she has not been vaccinated yet. She’s not against the COVID-19 vaccine. Far from it. She actually donated $1 million to help develop the Moderna vaccine. So, why hasn’t she gotten the vaccine herself? It’d be easy to think that she’d be first in line, but that’s not Parton’s style.

Parton explained, “I didn’t want to jump line. I didn’t donate the money so I could be protected. I did it for everybody.”

She explains that she will get the vaccine eventually. She’s just not in a rush and is letting everyone else who is eager to get the vaccine get it first.

Instead of focusing on the vaccine, Parton is focusing on her new Super Bowl commercial for Squarespace in which she modified her classic song “9 to 5” to “5 to 9.” The new version of the song refers to people who work a second job at night or who are building their own side business when they get home from work.

Parton said, “I thought, well, why not? You know, everybody knows the song as it is, but like me, so many people are working 9 to 5 and 5 to 9, all the time.”

Parton is a client of Squarespace. The company is helping her build a website to sell her new fragrance. She told CNN, “People have always followed me around, telling me how good I smell…So, I’ve come up with my own little smell that people just love.”

Now, for the big question: Will Parton ever perform at a Super Bowl half-time show? She thinks she will someday, but for now, she’s happy having an ad air during the game. She said, “It’s just always been a little more pressure than I’ve been willing to deal with through the years to do a whole thing on my own, but I’m sure eventually I probably will.”
