President-Elect Biden Received His First Dose of COVID-19 Vaccine on Live TV

The COVID-19 vaccine is now available to frontline workers. The first person in the United States to receive the Pfizer BioNTech vaccine after it was approved for emergency use authorization by the FDA was a nurse in New York City. When she received the vaccine, it was televised as a way to promote the vaccine.

Multiple politicians have already received the new vaccine, including Vice President Mike Pence and Speaker Nancy Pelosi. When they got the vaccine, it was televised as well.

Now, President-Elect Biden has gotten the first dose of the vaccine, and it aired on live TV. His wife, Dr. Jill Biden, received the COVID-19 vaccine several hours before her husband rolled up his sleeve.

Biden seemed in good spirits before and after receiving the vaccine. He waited until after the vaccination was over before speaking to the camera and sharing a message with everyone watching. He explained, “I’m doing this to demonstrate that people should be prepared when it’s available to take the vaccine.” He added, “There’s nothing to worry about.”

Although Biden encourages Americans to get vaccinated when they have the chance, he also mentioned that “this is just the beginning.” He emphasized that “it’s going to take time.” Then he went on to urge Americans to listen to the advice from the experts including wearing face masks and social distancing.

Next week, Vice President-Elect Kamala Harris is expected to receive the COVID-19 vaccine along with her husband, Doug Emhoff.

The Pfizer BioNTech vaccine requires two doses in order to be fully effective. Biden will most likely receive the second and final dose in the new year when it has been 3 weeks.
