Here’s Why Kelly Clarkson Finally Decided to End Her Marriage to Brandon Blackstock
At first it wasn’t clear why Clarkson decided to call it quits, but it seemed obvious that she had no intention of ever getting back together with Blackstock. The two were officially over. However, one year later, the couple still isn’t officially divorced. Clarkson wants the divorce to be legal immediately, and she doesn’t plan to start dating until it is.
While we know that Clarkson has to pay her ex nearly $200,000 a month for spousal and child support even though she has the kids most of the time, it hasn’t always been clear what exactly happened to make Clarkson decide to end the marriage.
An inside source revealed new information about the relationship to Us Weekly. The source explained that Clarkson didn’t trust Blackstock. She also thought he was “using her for her money and lifestyle.” The source continued, “She had tremendous resentment toward him. She just wasn’t willing to look the other way anymore.”
According to the source, Clarkson experienced a lot of “pain” in the marriage. The source described the end of the relationship as “really, really awful.” Apparently, Blackstock either couldn’t or wouldn’t answer her questions. The source explained, “She had a lot of questions that he just couldn’t answer.”
Clarkson does not regret filing for divorce. She is ready for the divorce to be finalized and to start dating again. According to the source, she would’ve divorced Blackstock a lot sooner if it weren’t for the kids.
As far as dating, Clarkson already knows what she’s looking for. The source explained that she’s hoping her friend Blake Shelton can set her up with “a younger, up-and-coming country singer [who] understands the business.”
