Coke might be a regular thing that’s around this summer for cookouts and parties, but if you’re not in the mood to drink it or you have some leftover flat soda, there are a ton of practical uses for the stuff. Take a look:
1. Remove Rust
Depending on the job, there are different ways to use Coke to remove rust. If you’re trying to remove rust from a car’s bumper, just pour Coke directly onto rust, let sit for a little while, then wipe with sponge. If you want to remove rust from tools, just put the tool in a little bath of Coke, then wipe clean after letting sit.
If you can’t get a rusty bolt to come loose, just pour some Coke on it and wait for a bit while the magic happens.
3. Remove Oil and Grease Stains
To defeat oil and grease stains on clothing, just pour some Coke on the stain and let it soak for an hour or two. Then wash and air dry.
4. Cure Nausea
If you’re feeling nauseated, just sip a teaspoon of flat Coke every hour to feel some relief.
5. Make a Sweet BBQ Sauce
Here’s a great tip just in time for summer grilling. Mix some Coke with Ketchup and slather onto ribs for a sweet barbecue sauce.
6. Make Better Ham
Use Coke to baste a ham roast as you cook it. The sugars will caramelize and your ham will come out of the oven moist and delicious.
7. Clean Tile Grout
Pour coke on tiled floors, leave for a few minutes (you don’t want to leave it on for so long that it makes the floor super sticky) and wipe up. Then clean as usual.
8. Clean Your Toilet
Pour some coke into the toilet and leave it for a little while before cleaning with a brush.
9. Remove Tarnish from Copper
Have a copper piece of jewelry or hardware? Soak it in some Coke, then wipe clean for a tarnish-free sparkle.
10. Kill Slugs and Snails
Put a small bowl of Coke outside in your garden. The sweet soda will attract them and the acid will kill them. You can also use beer.
