Just days ago, we gave you the scoop on Meghan Markle’s ever-present family drama as her royal wedding date approaches. Our last update focused on Thomas Markle’s — aka Meghan’s dad’s — sneaky dealings with a paparazzi agency, a stressful event which apparently caused his daughter a great deal of embarrassment and him to suffer a heart attack just last week.

Yep, this is definitely not something that a bride wants to be experiencing leading up to her big day, especially when she is tying the knot in front of the entire world!

Although Meghan reportedly forgave her father for striking a deal with the paparazzi agency, a move that ensured him a spot in her royal wedding party, he had checked himself back into the hospital earlier this week out of fear that he was suffering yet another heart attack.

Now, that a couple of days have passed, we have gotten news via an exclusive Daily Telegraph report that Thomas Markle was, in fact, forced to undergo heart surgery on Wednesday to repair damage from his previous cardiac event.

The senior Markle seems to be recovering successfully, but unfortunately, his recent surgery means that he is no shape to board a plane to England to walk his daughter down the aisle on Saturday. When the news of his bad heart broke, he suggested that his ex-wife, Doria Ragland, stand in for him, advice that most are guessing she will take.

It sure has been a rocky ride for the Markles, but we seriously hope Thomas gets the rest and recovery he deserves. Get well soon!
