If you don’t know the platinum blonde-haired, long-nailed personality, Theresa Caputo, is best known for being a medium (someone who can connect with people who’ve departed) on her TLC reality show Long Island Medium.

If you’ve ever watched her show, you know that she’s helped many people who’ve lost loved ones with her gift of being able to talk to spirits. It’s incredibly heartwarming (and amazing) to see every time one of her clients freak out after she asks something super specific to the person who died, like “What happened in September?” or “Is there any significance to a blue blanket?”

Besides the show just focusing on Theresa being a medium, Theresa’s whole family regularly made appearances on the show: her husband, Larry Caputo, and her two teenagers, Larry Caputo Jr. and Victoria Caputo. While Theresa is a pretty loud personality herself, there’s no doubt the Caputo family is super close and everyone loves each other—including Theresa and her hubby.

That’s why it was such a shock to viewers when Theresa announced through tears on an episode that appeared in December of 2017 that she and Larry had decided to separate after 28 years of marriage.

“Since the last season of Long Island Medium and through a period of time, Larry’s and I’s relationship has changed,” she said on the episode.

We also saw her meet with a friend for lunch, coming close to tears when discussing her current status of the bump in their relationship.

Larry was emotional during the episode as well as he talked about the impending divorce.

“This for me is probably the hardest thing I’ve had to endure,” he said. “I’ve been through a lot of trials and tribulations—this is the toughest.”

Theresa has always been loyal to her fans, and after the episode she thanks everyone for the support via her twitter: “I’m overwhelmed by the love and support for me and my family while we’re going through this difficult time. One thing will never change and that is that we will always love and support each other, and be the best parents we can be to our children. Love you guys.”

However, after that, things went quiet for a bit. There hasn’t been much news on the two since the episode; it wasn’t until recently that Theresa discussed their living situation and how things are going for the two of them.

“So right now, Larry is living in L.A. and I’m here in New York, and we’re just taking it day by day,” she said in an interview with Extra in April. “It’s an adjustment, but I’m OK.”

“We’re in a good place,” Theresa also recently told Good Housekeeping. “We’ve taken things day by day and, at the end of the day, we’re okay. [We’re] working and finding our place,” she added. “We’ve been together for a very long time. And people change. We all change. None of us are the same we were 10 years ago, five years ago, regardless of our work or what we’re doing with our lives. We change, as people.”

A new season of Long Island Medium premiered on April 8, and it looks like there are lots more emotional moments to come. We hope Theresa and Larry can find peace among the love they clearly both have for their families.
