Restaurant Customers Shocked to Discover That Their Server Is Actually Rapper Eminem

Eminem’s 2002 hit song “Lose Yourself” is hardly in the past. Though it’s almost 20 years old, fans still sing it loud and proud to this day.

One of the most popular lines in the song is when Eminem raps: “His palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy / There’s vomit on his sweater already, mom’s spaghetti…”

In fact, the line “mom’s spaghetti” is so iconic that a new restaurant called Mom’s Spaghetti has just opened in the artist’s hometown of Detroit, Michigan.

The restaurant was developed out of a partnership Eminem’s team and an area restaurant group and began as a popup shop back in 2017. It’s even appeared at a number of Eminem festival performances.

The response to the restaurant has always been “overwhelmingly positive,” says Paul Rosenberg, Eminem’s manager, adding that the popups are “really a test for us to determine whether there was enthusiasm for a regularly-occurring Mom’s Spaghetti spot that would be open all year long.”

And well—it’s happened! “Mom’s Spaghetti” has a permanent home and has just opened. And we gotta say: It’s super “on brand,” with a walk-up window and an upstairs store called “The Trailer” where fans can purchase themed merchandise.

“The walk-up window and small diner-like spot for people to eat add to the feeling that this is a homegrown, DIY experience,” said Curt Catallo, co-owner of Union Joints restaurant group.

Additionally, the menu for the restaurant is just what you’d think it is: Spaghetti! You can get plain, with meatballs or with rabbit balls. There’s also “’sghetti sandwiches” and three choices of soda for a drink. As for the sauce you can expect on the spaghetti, it’s a sauce that has ben tine-tuned to perfection.

“We’re proud of the fact that we created a scratch sauce that tastes like it’s straight from the jar, and wok-firing the noodles gives it that leftover pasta snap,” Catallo said.

Best part of all: To everyone’s surprise, Eminem was front and center during the grand opening of the diner, serving the first 10 fans in line their spaghetti (and even snap a selfie together).

There were tons of people who camped out all day for a spot in line, which went on for blocks and blocks. So those first lucky visitors were pretty shocked—and ecstatic!
