Whoopi Goldberg Scolds ‘The View’ Audience For Booing Kellyanne Conway

Kellyanne Conway was former president Donald Trump‘s campaign manager back in 2016. She helped him win the election and went on to become a senior advisor while he was in the White House. She left that role in August 2020.

Conway recently wrote a memoir titled “Here’s the Deal.” In the book, she wrote about how stressful it was balancing personal life with her career. For example, she explained that her husband often bashed Trump on Twitter and that was hard on their marriage. She also wrote about the election in 2020 and explained that Trump’s aids had him convinced that he was going to win.

To promote the memoir, Conway went on the talk show “The View.” Her political views differ from some of the views of the show’s cohosts, but that didn’t stop her from telling her side of the story and answering honestly.

During the show, cohost Sunny Hostin asked Conway if she agrees that President Joe Biden fairly won the election. In response, Conway said, “It’s pretty obvious that Joe Biden is the president. I can’t believe we’re still talking about this, respectfully.” She added that she was “the closest person” to Trump to tell him that he lost the election. Conway explained, “It broke my heart. I wanted him to get re-elected.”

Then Conway said something that some members of the audience didn’t like. She said, “He had all these accomplishments, he’s running against a guy stuck in the basement, and you’re in the middle of the pandemic.”

Some members of the audience started booing Conway, most likely for referring to the current president as “a guy stuck in the basement.”

Conway tried to continue talking, but cohost Whoopi Goldberg interrupted her. She wasn’t trying to be rude. Instead, she was trying to get the audience to be respectful of Conway.

Goldberg said to Conway, “Let me do something before you say anything else.” Then she turned to the audience, directly addressing them. She said, “Listen, this is ‘The View,’ and this is her view, and she’s talking about how she feels and what she knows. Please don’t boo her.”

Some members of the audience applauded after Goldberg’s comments. Then Conway said, “I think they’re booing Biden sitting in the basement.”

Watch this except from “The View” for yourself below.

Do you think the audience was booing Conway about the basement comment? Does it surprise you that Goldberg would interrupt Conway to tell the audience to be respectful of her views?
