How would you describe life right now? We think it’s safe to call it a pretty “Mad World.” Yes, we’re referencing the Tears for Fears song that’s lyrics have taken on a whole new, very relatable meaning.
Designer Tory Burch was a huge Tears for Fears fan when she was growing up, and she is currently friends with band member Curt Smith. She wanted to share something uplifting on her Instagram page to encourage her followers during this difficult time, so she reached out to Curt and asked if he would record himself performing a song from his home in Los Angeles.
Curt agreed, but he wasn’t the only one who was going to perform. His daughter, Diva, who is also a musician, agreed to do a duet with her dad, and they chose to perform the song “Mad World.” Honestly, we can’t think of a more appropriate song for our current circumstances. Burch agrees. She wrote, “Hard to imagine a song that seems more relevant right now.”

In just a few days, this video has already been viewed more than 3 million times, and viewers are raving about it. One comment reads, “I’ve never truly appreciated this song as much as now.” Another person wrote, “I literally got chills when her harmony vocal came in. Gorgeous.”
Besides being blown away by Diva’s gorgeous voice, viewers have also commented about what a sweet moment this is for father and daughter to share. “I love seeing the moments that will live in a child’s mind for decades!!! When she is 70 and hears this song it will take her right back to this moment with papa! :)” Another viewer commented, “This is how I imagined parenthood would be.”
