Kick Off the First Day Of Summer With Starbucks’ Newest Paradise Drink

Today is the first day of summer. Depending on where you live, it may have felt like summer for quite awhile now, but today is officially the day we can lean in to beach days, pool parties, cookouts and ice cold beverages.

If you’re dreaming of a tropical vacation but it’s not quite in the budget this year, Starbucks has the answer to transport you to paradise with one sip. Even if you do have a tropical vacation planned, perhaps counting down the days until takeoff is getting old, and you want to feel like you’re on vacation right now. Again, Starbucks has you covered.

The coffee chain recently dropped two new beverages on their Refreshers menu. This non-dairy beverages are permanent additions to the menu, so we look forward to sipping paradise all year long.

The new drinks are called the Paradise Drink and the Pineapple Passionfruit Drink. The second one basically tells you what it tastes like. The drink combines the flavors of two of our favorite tropical fruits to make a slightly caffeinated iced beverage. Besides natural pineapple and passionfruit flavors, the drink also contains green coffee extract, real dried pineapple bits and ice.

The Paradise Drink is almost identical to the Pineapple Passionfruit Drink with one big difference, and we think it’s a pretty important difference and arguably makes it the superior drink of the two. To make the Paradise Drink, everything in the Pineapple Passionfruit Drink is mixed with coconut milk. You can practically taste Hawaii right now just thinking about it, can’t you? Just us?

The Paradise Drink is the creamy cousin of the Pineapple Passionfruit Drink. The choice is yours. Either one will give you a refreshing taste of the tropics and a mild caffeine fix which could be perfect for an afternoon pick-me-up. The drinks have between 44 and 55 milligrams of caffeine when you order a grande. That’s roughly a quarter of the amount of caffeine in a grande cold brew at Starbucks.

Depending on where you’re located, the Paradise Drink and Pineapple Passionfruit Drink cost roughly $5 (give or take) for a grande. That seems to be in line with the prices of their other beverages.

In addition to the new Refreshers menu items, Starbucks has also added a few new food items including the Chicken, Maple Butter and Egg Sandwich as well as the Cookies and Cream Cake Pop.

Are you going to try the new menu items at Starbucks? Which new refreshers beverage sounds the most appealing to you?
