Meghan McCain Issues Apology After Spoiling ‘Game of Thrones’ Finale on ‘The View’

If you’re an avid watcher of HBO’s Games of Thrones, then you probably have a lot of feelings right now.

But besides that, you probably are very aware that you have to avoid social media at all costs if you couldn’t watch a GOT episode during its air time. For whatever reason, people LOVE to spoil the show by posting their thoughts or memes all over Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, and if you haven’t seen it yet, spoilers can send you into a fit of rage.

Most of us know this by now and try to only talk about the show to others who’ve seen it. But “The View” co-host Meghan McCain didn’t get that memo apparently. After the show’s finale on May 19, she completely ruined the ending for those who hadn’t seen it yet (and we thought TV was a safe place!).

“This morning there are actually counselors you can reach out to if you’re having a hard time with it,” co-host Whoopi Goldberg said the morning after the premiere (which, seriously, there are!). “Anybody having a tough time?” she asked.

“Yes, yes,” said McCain. “I spent eight years of my life watching this and it was horrible. Horrible. Bran is the worst. Sorry that’s a spoiler. He didn’t do anything and now he gets to rule?”

The audience literally gasped in shock, along with other co-hosts of the show looking mortified. Goldberg pretended to walk off the set, probably to keep a lighthearted peace, but people were disgusted.

At first, McCain didn’t even try to apologize. “It’s all over the internet,” she said. You guys are like, genuinely upset.”

DOESN’T MAKE IT OKAY, MCCAIN.

After the show, McCain finally apologized for the spoiler on her Twitter: “I’m so sorry for the #GOT spoilers on the show today! I assumed every diehard fan had watched! My bad. Don’t watch west coast if you don’t want a spoiler,” she wrote.

Hopefully if you read this far, you’ve seen the finale! Tell us your thoughts on how it ended—and what you think of McCain ruining it for those who haven’t seen it yet.
