Selena Gomez Presents Barefoot After Red Carpet Stumble at the SAG Awards

When a celebrity gets ready to attend an awards show, we can only imagine that it’s similar to a bride getting ready for her wedding day or teens getting ready for prom in that a lot of time and care is taken when it comes to choosing what to wear and getting ready for the event.

The dress has to be perfect. The shoes have to be perfect. The accessories have to be perfect. Hair and makeup have to be perfect. Everything has to be camera ready. This is a big night.

Celebrities often wear designer gowns and jewels worth millions. When Selena Gomez attended the SAG awards last night, she was no exception. She wore a stunning black velvet Oscar de la Renta gown. She added Bulgari diamonds including a Serpenti necklace with a total of 37.04 carats of diamonds. She also wore black Christian Louboutin heels.

This was the first time Gomez had been nominated for a SAG award, and she was also a presenter at the event. That definitely made it an important night. Thankfully, she had stylist Kate Young to help her pull together a look that Young describes as “glamorous and fancy.”

While the ensemble was truly a fashion do, unfortunately for Gomez, she still suffered from a wardrobe malfunction. After posing on the red carpet, she tripped and fell. Thankfully, she didn’t need medical attention, just help back on her feet.

Later that evening, Gomez walked on stage with “Only Murders in the Building” co-star Martin Short to present an award. One things was noticeably different about her outfit. She was barefoot. We can only assume she didn’t want to risk tripping on stage, and we can’t say that we blame her.

It seems that Gomez kept the shoes off the entire evening, including when she was mingling with other celebrities. One photo from the night shoes a barefoot Gomez chatting with Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban. In the picture, notice that Kidman is also barefoot.

Do you think going barefoot on stage will be a new fashion trend? Why do you think Kidman was barefoot? Do you think she copied Gomez, or do you think it was simply a case of uncomfortable shoes? Have you ever taken your shoes off at a fancy event?
