If you are lucky enough to be planning your upcoming nuptials, then you’ve no doubt sat and wondered what the biggest wedding of 2018 holds — the very royal ceremony that will be Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s big day. We’re not getting married this year, but even we have been comparing our imaginary wedding (we all have those, right?) with what the U.K.’s most gorgeous couple will have in store. Nope, not weird. Not weird at all.
But, back to you and your wedding. Even if you don’t have any intentions of swiping ideas from Harry and Meghan, we have a feeling that ceremony will be just so dang good, you simply won’t be able to help yourself. Don’t believe us? Just check out these 7 ways the couple will make a mark in the wedding world…
And, don’t be ashamed to take notes!

Brides will ask their moms to walk them down the aisle
In Western cultures, it’s customary for the father of the bride to walk his daughter down the aisle, but sources say that Meghan plans on having her mother take over the role.
Apparently, Meghan has a good relationship with both parents, but when her mom and dad got divorced when she was a child, she grew much closer to her mother, Doria Ragland. We won’t know the final decision until May 19th, but the fact that she hasn’t disputed the claim is quite telling, if you ask us. We have a feeling that this break in tradition will most definitely spark some trends!

Fiancés will pose for editorial-inspired engagement photos
Real talk: how gorgeous are Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s engagement photos? They seriously look like they belong in the pages of Vogue, right?!
Although plenty of couples have started to become more creative with these special pictures, we are already seeing this trend of magazine-worthy engagement photos start to become more and more prevalent. Engagement announcements have never looked so chic!
-
Grooms will incorporate their family bling into the engagement ring
Did you know that Meghan Markle’s engagement ring features two sapphires that were a part of Princess Diana’s favorite brooch? The Prince saw it as a way to honor the late princess on what is the most important day of his life. Yep, we’re gushing, too!
Now, it goes without saying that very few soon-to-be grooms have access to the level of jewels that Harry does, but we think that the sweet gesture of incorporating heirloom jewelry into the engagement ring will speak volumes to all brides. Upcycling doesn’t get much more romantic than that, folks!
-
Brides will start rocking neutral nail polish
Question: have you ever seen any royal rocking colorful, or even dark, nail polish? If you answered “yes,” then your memory’s not-so-hot because no female member of the Royal Family is allowed to wear anything but very pale tones on their fingernails!
This means that, unless Meghan wants to start off on the wrong foot with her grandmother-in-law (aka The Queen of England), she, too, will have a pale pink or tan manicure on her big day. Fun fact: Queen Elizabeth II’s all-time favorite polish is Essie’s Ballet Slippers. The monarch has been wearing the iridescent tone for over 30 years!
-
Couples will opt for fruit cakes
Rumor has it that Harry and Meghan will be cutting quite the interesting cake on their wedding day— a banana cake. Talk about a break from tradition, huh?
A source told The Telegraph that the Prince loves anything with banana in it, and apparently his fiancé likes to indulge him in his love for the fruit. Sounds yummy to us!
-
Brides will ditch their veils for tiaras
Meghan may not be able to don a tiara quite yet— she is just a lowly fiancé after all— but that doesn’t mean she won’t be wearing one that matches her dress on her wedding day. Once the public sees how gorgeous a bride looks with a “bling-y” headpiece, we have a feeling that sales of veils will take a serious nosedive!
-
Emboldened couples will go against tradition
It doesn’t take a genius to realize that the more “old-school” members of the Royal Family might have initially had problems with Prince Harry’s fiancé. After all, Meghan is a divorced actress who also happens to be an American. Perhaps unsurprisingly, this makes the beauty a somewhat radical figure in England.
That said, she has ultimately been accepted by the monarchy– she even spent last Christmas with the Royal Family! Our hope is that couples who may not have loads of family support behind them can take strength from Harry and Meghan’s unprecedented marriage. If they can buck hundreds of years of tradition, so can anyone!
Now, those are some upcoming wedding trends, if we’ve ever seen them! What are your thoughts on this list? Do you like these wedding ideas? Which is your favorite?
