Rebel Wilson Opens About How She Gets Treated Differently After 61-Pound Weight Loss

Back before 2020 started, Rebel Wilson decided that she needed to get serious about her health. The Australian native became famous after playing the character Fat Amy in the “Pitch Perfect” movies. She was always self-confident even though she was overweight, but she knew she wasn’t making healthy choices.

After dropping 61 pounds and meeting her goal weight of 165 pounds, Wilson did an Instagram Live video where she explained why she decided to lose weight and how she did it. She started by explaining that she used to eat a lot of fast food and that she “only used to eat, like, carbs and sugar.” She also mentioned that she used to eat for emotional reasons, and deep down she knew that it wasn’t a good for her health to eat a whole pan of brownies by herself.

Wilson shared that many people didn’t want her to lose weight. She was typecast in Hollywood as Fat Amy, and her friends thought she shouldn’t change her image. Wilson didn’t care. For her, it was never about being a specific size, but the 40-year-old knew she needed to do what was best for her health, and that meant changing some bad habits and dropping some weight.

Wilson finds it odd that people care so much about her weight loss. She thinks there are much more important things to be concerned about in the world than how much she weighs.

On the radio show “The Morning Crew With Hughesy, Ed and Erin,” Wilson explained that she has become a “selfie monster” ever since she reached her goal weight. Even though she has always been confident no matter what she weighed, she finds herself taking and posting selfies more than ever before.

Wilson has also noticed that her appearance has changed she way she’s treated by complete strangers. She explained, “Sometimes being bigger, people didn’t necessarily look twice at you. And now that I’m in a good shape, like, people offer to carry my groceries to the car and hold doors open for you. I was like, ‘Is this what other people experienced all the time?'”

Wilson started her weight loss journey by doing a detox in Austria in order to get rid of her sugar cravings. Then, she got serious about changing her diet and exercise. She exercises 6 days a week and usually takes Sunday off. Some days, exercise consists of simply going for a walk. She knows that she has access to personal trainers that are not accessible to everyone, but she stresses that going for a walk is free and that anyone can do that.

Does Wilson’s weight loss motivate you to want to lose weight? What’s your favorite type of exercise? Does it surprise you that she would be treated differently just because of her size?
