Queen Elizabeth Will Welcome the Bidens To Windsor Castle Later This Month
During her almost 70-year reign as Queen of England, Queen Elizabeth II has met every U.S. president except for Lyndon Johnson. In the past decade, she met the Obamas while Barak Obama was president, and she met the Trumps when Donald Trump was president.
President Joe Biden is getting ready for his first international trip since taking office. During his trip, he was visit England and Belgium. The trip will take place later this month, and he will be in England for the G7 summit taking place June 11 – 13. On the last day of the summit, the Queen plans to welcome the president and his wife to Windsor Castle.
An official statement from Buckingham Palace announced the news explaining, “The Queen will meet the President of the United States of America and First Lady Jill Biden at Windsor Castle on Sunday, 13th June 2021.”
If Windsor Castle sounds familiar that’s probably because it is where Meghan Markle and Prince Harry got married. More recently, it was also the location of Prince Philip’s funeral. The Queen has spent most of the pandemic quarantined at Windsor Castle.
After he leaves England, President Biden’s trip is far from over. He will fly to Brussels for a NATO summit. Then, on June 16, he will travel to Switzerland to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin.
