Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Are Now On Instagram and Are Already Breaking Records

Okay, royal watchers, it’s official that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are on social media. This week, the couple launched an Instagram account and people wasted no time following.

The first post was shared under the handle @sussexroyal to welcome everyone to their IG page and include photos from their engagements around the world. The page will be used to highlight their work in communities, major announcements, and royal visits.

Up until now, the duke and duchess have been sharing an Insta account with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on the @KensingtoRoyal page. In response to the royal couple’s first post, @KensingtonRoyal welcomed Harry and Meghan to Instagram with their own greeting and an emoji that points to their page:

“Welcome to Instagram, SussexRoyal! Follow for more on the work of The Duke and Duchess of Sussex  https://www.instagram.com/sussexroyal/ “

It’s only been one day and the new account has more than 2.5 million followers. The royal family has been a bit busy in the social media arena during the past few months, with an issuance of new guidelines to curb trolls and Queen Elizabeth publishing her first post to the ‘gram last month.
