Barack and Michelle Obama Are Reportedly Buying a $14.8 Million Martha’s Vineyard Mansion from Boston Celtics Owner
Not only is the President in the spotlight, but so is his family. We’re not just talking about the current President. We’re talking about past Presidents as well. That’s why we can’t blame any President for wanting to relax and escape from the public eye once in awhile.
Former President Barack Obama and his family are partial to Martha’s Vineyard when it comes to relaxing and spending time together as a family. They used to own a home there, and they vacationed there together every year; however, they sold their vacation home just last year.
That doesn’t mean that the Obamas don’t still love Martha’s Vineyard. In fact, they rented a home there over the summer for their family vacation, and they liked the property so much that they’re actually trying to buy it.
The home is currently owned by Wyc Grousbeck, the owner of the Boston Celtics. It’s not a done deal since the house is currently in escrow. If you’ve ever been in escrow, you that it’s not over until it’s over.
Grousbeck’s home is also known as Chilmark House. He originally listed the house for sale in 2015 at a price of $22.5 million, but he has since dropped the price to $16,250,000.
The spectacular estate features more than 7,000 square feet of living space, including 7 bedrooms and 8.5 bathrooms. The home, which was built in 2001, has a mainly white, modern interior with features like a chef’s kitchen and a master bedroom that has its own sundeck.
The house sits on 30 acres, making it plenty big enough for a couple more full-size homes to be built if the Obamas would like to expand the living space, potentially creating their own family compound.
The Obamas will be able to enjoy a private beach, views of the Atlantic Ocean and plenty of space to entertain.
