A New ‘Harry Potter’ Roller Coaster in Universal Orlando Will Center Around Hagrid and His Flying Motorbike

If you’re a “Harry Potter” fan you probably already know that Universal Orlando is a must-visit destination. Sure, you could go to Universal Studios Hollywood to visit the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, but only in Orlando can you experience two entirely separate and completely wonderful Harry Potter lands.

At Universal Studios Florida, you can visit Diagon Alley where you can enjoy dining at the Leaky Cauldron and picking out a wand at Ollivanders wand shop. You also wouldn’t want to miss the thrill ride Escape from Gringotts.

At Universal’s other theme park in Orlando, Islands of Adventure, you can visit Hogsmeade and Hogwarts Castle. Your visit isn’t complete without dining at the Three Broomsticks and soaring above the castle on the Forbidden Journey thrill ride.

If you’re already set to book your trip, you might want to wait until June to visit. A new ride is coming to Hogsmeade, Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure. This ride replaces the Dragon Challenge ride that has been closed since 2017.

According to Universal Orlando, “For the first time ever, join Hagrid as you fly far beyond the grounds of Hogwarts castle on a thrilling roller coaster ride that plunges into the paths of some of the wizarding world’s rarest magical creatures.”

This new ride is scheduled to open on June 13, 2019. It has been in the works for awhile and not much more is known about it. We can only imagine what the paths will looks like, but one guess is that the ride will plunge into the Forbidden Forest.

If you’re thinking about getting tickets to try out the new ride, we suggest thinking about a ticket that allows you to visit both parks. That will also give you access to ride the Hogwarts Express from one park to the other.
