In case you missed it, there was quite a bit of drama at the latest Oscars ceremony. After Will Smith was offended by a comment Chris Rock said about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith at the Oscars, he got up on stage in front of a live audience and proceeded to smack him across the face. He then yelled at him from his seat in an aggressive manner.

The attack has been the talk of the show since it happened—and now repercussions of Smith’s actions are starting to affect him. Not only are many comedians and actors completely against what Smith did on stage, and have been vocal about their opinions, but his career might be taking a back seat as well.

Smith was set to star in an upcoming film on Netflix called “Fast and Loose,” but unrelated to the Oscars occurrence, director David Leitch had to drop from working on the project due to a scheduling conflict. However, with the recent happenings, no one is really pushing to work on a film with Smith, and the movie is getting moved to a lesser priority.

“Netflix put out an urgent call for another director to take over a project featuring the star who was heavily favored to win the best actor at the Oscars. But soon after Smith’s attack on Chris Rock on the Oscars stage, Netflix quietly moved the project to the back burner,” The Hollywood Reporter stated.

Additionally, a new film called Bad Boys 4 was also currently being developed, “but will now pause. A few other projects in pre-production are likely to do the same,” according to a source from The Hollywood Reporter.

The joke was about Pinkett Smith’s shaved head, which she had to do after suffering from a hair loss condition. That’s why Smith got as offended as he did. However, Smith did apologize for his actions, but apparently, that’s not enough in the eyes of Hollywood.

“I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris,” Smith had written in a public apology to Rock. “I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness.”

Do you think Rock was out of line to make a joke about Jada? What other consequences do you think Smith should face for slapping Rock?
