How Meghan Markle and Harry Picked Their Honeymoon Destination
Sick of royal wedding news yet? Good, because we’re not either!
In fact, we’re so obsessed at the moment, that we’re dying to get any insights on the couple’s upcoming big day, no matter how humdrum they may be. Over the past several weeks we’ve been delivering all the small and big details, from the wedding dress to the sky-high budget, to poor Meghan’s family drama, to even a surprise name used on the invitations.
Yep, we’ve pretty much covered it all!
But, lucky for you, the topic that we’re covering about today isn’t a banal one. In fact, it has to do with the most exciting time in any newly-married couple’s life— except for the wedding day, of course.
That’s right, we’ve got some insider deets on where the soon-to-be royal bride and groom are set to take their honeymoon— and it’s not where you think it might be.
According to insider information reported by Business Insider, Prince Harry and his bride are set to honeymoon in the West African nation of Namibia. On one hand, the locale makes sense, considering Namibia is part of the Commonwealth, but that still doesn’t mean it’s not a surprising choice given the family history.
You see, Prince William and Duchess Kate honeymooned in The Seychelles, a rather standard romantic destination for the rich and famous. Before them, Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana honeymooned in Crete. And before them, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Phillip stayed close to home, opting to honeymoon in Hampshire.
Of course, it goes without saying that Prince Harry, in particular, has really shaken things up in terms of tradition — his soon-to-be-bride is an American former actress after all — so it’s not all that surprising that he would choose Namibia over more standard honeymoon destinations!
What Namibia has to offer honeymooners
In recent years, Namibia has started to gain a reputation as being the perfect destination for adventurous honeymooners seeking plenty of privacy— something that our lovely duo certainly needs!
According to Travel + Leisure, Namibia is full of extremely remote luxury camps and hotels that allow their guests to fully immerse themselves in the country’s gorgeous nature and striking landscapes. In terms of adventure, there are plenty of world-class safaris that the two can book, where they might have close encounters with wild zebras, antelopes, ostriches, and lions.
Of course, Namibia is also a wonderful place to chill out and relax, too. The weather is mild this time of year and there’s plenty of picturesque scenery to take in. This couple might be pampered, but something tells us that even they will be exhausted after that $46 million wedding of theirs!
