Lady Gaga Set to Sing the National Anthem for Biden-Harris Inauguration

Lady Gaga has previously sung Joe Biden’s praises, so it’s only fitting she will also sing the national anthem at his and Kamala Harris’s inauguration on Jan. 20.

The pop singer has been tapped to perform “The Star-Spangled Banner” at the swearing-in ceremony, the Biden-Harris inaugural committee confirmed. The ceremony generally starts at 11:30 a.m. EST on Inauguration Day on the West Front of the U.S. Capitol building.

The ceremony will also reportedly feature a performance by Jennifer Lopez. The full list of artists scheduled to perform at the inaugural events has not yet been publicly released, however, the ceremony is expected to draw an impressive lineup of celebrity supporters who have historically embraced the Democratic Party.

In addition to the ceremony, a virtual parade will be held, as well as several live streaming events. There is also a primetime television special that will be hosted by Tom Hanks and will air at 8 p.m. EST on Inauguration Day.

Lady Gaga seems a fitting choice to fulfill the role, as she’s been a public supporter of President-elect Biden. In a tweet following his confirmed election win, the star tweeted: “Joe Biden, Kamala Harris and the American people, you just gave the world one of the greatest acts of kindness and bravery humanity has ever seen… Nothing but love for our new Commander in Chief and the 1ST female VP elected to the White House. Also, way to go PA.”

The star also clapped back against Trump’s director of communications, Tim Murtaugh, when he attempted to knock her efforts supporting the Biden-Harris campaign. Murtaugh tweeted, “Nothing exposes Biden’s disdain for the forgotten working men & women of PA like campaigning with anti-fracking activist Lady Gaga.” She responded, “HEY TIM HEY @realDonaldTrump SO HAPPY IM GLAD TO BE LIVING RENT FREE in your HEAD. #BidenHarris.”

If her 2016 Super Bowl performance of the national anthem is any indication, viewers should be in for a real treat. Are you excited to see Lady Gaga perform? Let us know if you’ll be tuning in to the Inauguration Day ceremony!
