The Sex and the City reboot “And Just Like That” would be nothing without Charlotte York, played by Kristin Davis. However, after the revival premiered on HBO Max December 9, people had a lot of negative things to say about her appearance. However, she’s finally speaking out about some of the sexist things people have said about her.

“Everyone wants to comment, pro or nay or whatever, on our hair and our faces and our this and our that,” Davis said in an interview with London’s Sunday Times. “The level of intensity of it was a shock…. I feel angry and I don’t want to feel angry all the time, so I don’t look at it. I just know it’s there.”

This isn’t the first time she’s had people speak poorly about her. In fact, she was used to it throughout her appearances on the original TV series that aired through the 90s and 2000s. She’d read articles commenting on the shape of her body and how upsetting things like that were.

“They would write articles every week about how I was ‘pear-shaped,’ which I didn’t feel was a compliment at the time,” Davis said. “It would stress me out a fair amount because I couldn’t avoid it. I kind of feel like that’s how it is now too.”

Davis then went on to be…well, a bit, as she calls it: Blunt. “But I also feel—I’m going to be blunt—I feel like, ‘F*k you. F(k you people, like, come over here and do it better.’ You know what I mean? Like, what are you doing?”

As far as “And Just Like That,” Davis knows that social media is to blame for all the negativity, and frankly, she’s pretty sick of it. “That’s the problem with social media, right, is that you don’t know what those people are doing,” she said. “You don’t know anything about them. They’re just hurling bombs at you. It makes me angry.”

Davis’ costar Sarah Jessica Parker has also been bombarded with hate comments regarding her appearance—but she had a few choice words to say to haters too.

“There’s so much misogynist chatter in response to us that would never. Happen. About. A. Man,” she said. “‘Gray hair, gray hair, gray hair. Does she have gray hair?’ I’m sitting with Andy Cohen, and he has a full head of gray hair, and he’s exquisite. Why is it okay for him? I don’t know what to tell you people! Especially on social media.

“Everyone has something to say: ‘She has too many wrinkles, she doesn’t have enough wrinkles.’ It almost feels as if people don’t want us to be perfectly okay with where we are, as if they almost enjoy us being pained by who we are today, whether we choose to age naturally and not look perfect, or whether you do something if that makes you feel better,” she continued. “I know what I look like. I have no choice. What am I going to do about it? Stop aging? Disappear?”
