You probably know Keanu Reeves as an actor. He’s starred in everything from the Matrix to John Wick and everything in between. However, did you know that he’s an absolute gem of a human in real life, too?
Most celebrities have a reputation for being stuck up or ignoring their fans. Sure, these stars probably get hundreds of people trying to contact them a day. It honestly must get kind of annoying. But not for Reeves.
As famous as he is, Reeves always makes it a point to be polite to his biggest fans and give them the time of day. Sometimes, he even goes above and beyond what a commonplace person would do!
For example, one time Reeves was riding the subway, and without hesitation, gave up his seat for a woman who was standing. A fan caught it on camera and it’s the most aww-worthy moment, especially since he has no idea anyone is watching.
There was also the time Reeves bought an ice cream cone he didn’t want just to give a 16-year-old his autograph. Read that story here, which is the cutest.
Now, another one of Reeves’ lovely gestures has recently been brought to light in a Reddit post asking people to share stories of something a celebrity did that changed how they viewed Hollywood stars.
As you can imagine, most people took this as an opportunity to share stories about when they witnessed a celebrity being a horrible human.
But of course, then there’s perfect Keanu Reeves who apparently does no wrong. Someone posted a story about how Reeves called an 80-year-old grandma just to make her day. Here’s the story:
My grandmother had a crush on Keanu Reeves because he reminded her of my grandfather when he was young. Saw all his stuff, from Bill and Ted to the Matrix. She had a stroke in her early 70s and was pretty much housebound for the last 10 years of her life, so watching movies was her main hobby, and became almost like friends to her because she so rarely got to see any of her own. Not too long after the Matrix came out my uncle was in LA for business and was eating at a really swanky restaurant when Keanu came in with a woman. When he finished his meal my uncle came up to their table and said “I don’t usually do this, but I just wanted you to know that my 80-year-old mother loves you and has seen all of your movies. You remind her of my dad.” He said Keanu asked if he had a cell phone on him and when he confirmed that he did, he said “Give her a call, I want to talk to her.” He spoke with my grandmother for several minutes and it absolutely made her year. She was so isolated and his genuine kindness to her and interest in her showed what a truly amazing man he is.
Does this story not make you want to cry all the happy tears? It’s hard to believe someone of Reeves’ status would do something so genuine—and the world of Reddit agrees.
