Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck Are Officially Engaged, Again

Jennifer Lopez is no stranger to being engaged. In fact, the 52-year-old singer and actress has been engaged a total of five times in her lifetime! You can spy on all her engagement rings here and reminisce on those moments.

You might notice that the third person on that list is Ben Affleck. The two, known as “Bennifer” at the time, were engaged in 2002 for about two years before they decided to call it off before walking down the aisle in 2004. He had gotten her a 6.1-carat cushion-cut pink diamond, which came in at an estimated $2.5 million.

Since their split, Lopez and Affleck each eventually got married and started families of their own. Affleck married Jennifer Garner. The couple had three children, and even though they have since gotten divorced, they seem to be able to co-parent rather amicably. Additionally, Lopez and the husband she met after splitting with Affleck, Marc Anthony, got married in 2004, had twins Emme and Max in 2008, and separated in 2011.

Lopez and Affleck have since rekindled their relationship with each other last year, and now we know for sure that they weren’t just playing around. Lopez just recently announced she is engaged—to Affleck, once again!

Lopez shared the news in an email that included a clip of her admiring a huge, green stone on a silver band on her ring finger.

Green is known as Lopez’s favorite color. “I’ve realized there are many moments in my life where amazing things happened when I was wearing green,” she shared once in a previous newsletter. “Maybe you can remember a certain green dress.”

Lopez shared the engagement news in a video on Twitter the same night it happened. “So I have a really exciting and special story to share…” adding a diamond ring emoji to her account handle.

We couldn’t be more excited to have Bennifer back! But some might be wondering—if it didn’t work 18 years ago, what makes the two think that it’s going to work now? Lopez addresses that common concern:

“We’re older now, we’re smarter, we have more experience, we’re at different places in our lives, we have kids now, and we have to be very conscious of those things,” she says. “It’s a beautiful outcome that this has happened in this way at this time in our lives where we can really appreciate and celebrate each other and respect each other,” Lopez told PEOPLE. “We always did, but we have even more of an appreciation because we know that life can take you in different directions.”
