When the pandemic started and non-essential businesses were forced to close, one of the stores we missed the most was HomeGoods. At the time, Easter was just weeks away, and we had yet to visit the store for bunny and baby chick home decor. We stayed home ordering toilet paper online and wishing we could order decorative products from HomeGoods just as easily.

When HomeGoods was finally able to reopen, the line outside was frustratingly long and we immediately realized we were far from the only ones who had missed scanning the shelves for items we didn’t know we needed until we saw how cute they were at such an amazing price.

As COVID cases rise and the holiday season approaches, we worry that our local HomeGoods store will once again be forced to close, this time with cute Christmas blankets and tableware adorned with Santa faces and Christmas trees trapped inside the store with no way out. If only we could shop for these items online.

Thankfully, HomeGoods executives have decided that the shopping experience does need to go online, and they have committed to creating an online store for the popular store in 2021. No, that doesn’t save us if stores close before our holiday shopping is done, but it is something to look forward to next year.

In a press release, TJX Companies, which owns and operates HomeGoods, announced, “To both leverage our strength in the home category and capitalize on our market share growth opportunities, we are pleased to share that we plan to rollout e-commerce on HomeGoods.com later next year.”

While HomeGoods.com already exists, it is currently not an online store. Right now, it only gives us information about items available in stores. We do not know when the new online shopping experience will transform the website into our new favorite online store, but we’re excited about the news nonetheless.

The only negative we can think of about this news is how dangerous an online HomeGoods store might be for our wallet. It will be almost too easy to snag great deals on super cute products.

If you’re a true Maxxinista, you probably already know that TJMaxx, which is also owned by TJX Companies, already has an online store. While we wait to shop at HomeGoods.com, we can find some home products at TJMaxx.com. Besides home products, you will also be able to shop for clothes, shoes and toys.
