Gene Simmons of KISS Tears Into Anti-Vaxxers In a New Interview
While many Americans made appointments to get their Covid-19 vaccination as soon as they possibly could and did the same when their children became eligible for the vaccination, many other Americans have yet to receive their first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine. It seems that some people in this vaccine hesitant group won’t be convinced to get vaccinated no matter what, not even if it means losing their job.
Several celebrities have been vocal about their feelings about the Covid-19 vaccine. A few are on the side of those who decide not to get vaccinated, like quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Others are quite vocal about their feelings that it’s “evil” not to get vaccinated. That’s one word KISS frontman Gene Simmons recently used when talking about people who are unvaccinated.
In an interview for The Rock N Roll Channel’s “TopShopLive,” Steve Harkins asked Simmons about the KISS cruise that had just ended less than a week ago. Simmons started by saying that it was “good,” but then took the opportunity to mention that you could only go on the cruise if you were vaccinated for Covid-19. He said, “I don’t care about your political beliefs. You are not allowed to infect anybody just because you think you’ve got rights that are delusional.”
Then Simmons continued to rip into unvaccinated people by sharing a couple metaphors that demonstrated why he believes it is essential for people to get vaccinated for Covid-19. He explained, “You don’t have the right to go through a red light — actually the government has the right to tell you to stop. You have to put on a seatbelt. If they tell you you can’t smoke in a building, you can’t smoke in a building. And that’s not because they want to take away your rights — that’s because the rest of us hate it. We don’t want to smell your smoke.”
Then he circled back to the issue of the Covid vaccine. He continued, “I don’t want to catch your disease. I don’t want to risk my life just because you want to go through a red light. This whole idea, this delusional, evil idea that you get to do whatever you want and the rest of the world be damned is really terrible.”
Simmons continued to pick apart reasons that some people are vaccine hesitant, for example, people who don’t believe that Covid is responsible for killing a lot of people. He explained, “I know that there are flat earth society people who believe…in all sorts of things. They died because they were fat or because they smoked. No bitch. They died because they got Covid. And there are still a lot of people who don’t believe that.”
Then he ripped into Aaron Rodgers without naming him, but the inference was there. He said, “I don’t care if you play football or not. Stay away from evil people who don’t care about your health.”
He even compared covering your mouth when you yawn to getting vaccinated for Covid. He said, “If I’m going to yawn in your presence, I’m going to put my hand up in front of my mouth. Yawning is not a life-threatening event. You having Covid might be a life-threatening event, and I don’t want to catch it.”
It’s clear that Simmons believes vaccination for Covid-19 is vitally important. Do you know anyone who is hesitant to get vaccinated for Covid-19? Do you think they care what Simmons thinks about vaccinations? Do you think his rant will encourage anyone, possibly some of his fans, to get vaccinated?
