Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and Prince Andrew To Be Excluded from the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Balcony Appearance

Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebration is only a month away, and final plans are underway. Although it will not be announced until the last minute which events the Queen will attend, one thing is certain. She will be on the balcony for Trooping the Colour, the event that marks the official start of the Platinum Jubilee.

In past years, the balcony was packed with the Queen’s extended family members who joined her for the celebration, but this year, things are going to be a little bit different. While a Buckingham Palace spokesperson did not specify who will not be on the balcony this year, the spokesperson did specify who will be on the balcony – working members of the royal family. From this, it is easy to see which former senior royals will be excluded from the balcony appearance – Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and Prince Andrew.

The spokesperson explained, “After careful consideration, The Queen has decided this year’s traditional Trooping the Colour balcony appearance on Thursday 2nd June will be limited to Her Majesty and those Members of the Royal Family who are currently undertaking official public duties on behalf of The Queen.”

Earlier this year, the Queen striped Prince Andrew of his military titles due to the sexual abuse lawsuit against him. He is no longer a working member of the royal family.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have not been working members of the royal family since 2020 when they relocated to Canada and later California, leaving royal life behind them.

Many wondered if Harry and Meghan would be attending the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, especially after learning that the couple had stopped by for a visit with the Queen on their way to the Invictus Games. Although the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will not be on the balcony for the Trooping of Colour, they do plan to attend the Platinum Jubilee.

In a statement, a spokesperson for the Sussexes announced, “Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are excited and honoured to attend The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations this June with their children.”

At the end of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations, there will be another balcony appearance on June 5th. It is possible that additional members of the Queen’s family will be on the balcony at this time. Do you think Prince Andrew will be on the balcony on June 5th?
