Dr. Fauci Warns Of ‘Two Americas’ As Divide Widens Between Vaccinated and Unvaccinated Areas

America is not going to meet President Biden’s goal of 70% of all adults having at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine by the 4th of July. Only 16 states have reached this goal so far, and we’re only days away from the 4th.

From state to state, there is a huge difference in how many people are vaccinated. While 16 states have met President Biden’s goal, there are 5 states where less than 35% of adults have been fully vaccinated. These states are Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Wyoming. Across the United States, about 46.4% of the population is fully vaccinated.

New data shows that most people who plan on getting vaccinated have already gotten vaccinated. According to a Kaiser Family Foundation report, only 3% of people who plan on getting vaccinated haven’t gotten the shot yet. Another 14% said they do not plan on getting vaccinated.

While everyone has the right to decide for themselves whether or not to get vaccinated for Covid-19, Dr. Anthony Fauci, the head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, warns that most cases of the new Delta variant of Covid-19 are among unvaccinated people.

Dr. Fauci told CNN’s Don Lemon, “When you have such a low level of vaccination superimposed upon a variant that has a high degree of efficiency of spread, what you are going to see among under-vaccinated regions, be that states, cities or counties, you’re going to see these individual types of blips. It’s almost like it’s going to be two Americas.”

Dr. Fauci went on to say that getting vaccinated is effective against the delta variant. He explained, “This is entirely avoidable, entirely preventable. If you are vaccinated, you diminish dramatically your risk of getting infected and even more dramatically your risk of getting seriously ill. If you are not vaccinated, you are at considerable risk.”

Have you gotten vaccinated for Covid-19? Do you think the threat of the new delta variant will encourage more people to get vaccinated? Does it surprise you that there is such a huge difference in vaccination status from state to state?
