Disney Shares First Look at New ‘Star Wars’ Land Attraction Coming in 2019

While there’s always going to be the classics at Disney—It’s a Small World After All, for example—it’s always exciting when the park gets new rides and attractions.

Especially if you’re a Star Wars fan and it’s a Star Wars-themed attraction.

After announcing that the parks will be implementing new Star Wars themed areas, called “Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge,” fans have been anxiously awaiting what the attractions will be.

Finally, Disney Parks has just released its first photo on Instagram of one of the two major attractions that will be launching: The Millennium Falcon.

After two years of construction, the Millennium Falcon experience will be just as epic as we would’ve imagined: It’s basically a replica of the Millennium Falcon spaceship, which will host Smuggler’s Run.

Visitors will actually be able to fly the spaceship themselves—or at least have it feel that way—right alongside the space pirate Hondo Ohnaka and the Wookiee Chewbacca.

You’ll be assigned a “secret mission” for the Resistance, and your success or failure is determined based on just that—whether you succeed or fail. There isn’t one outcome; you choose it!

Though there haven’t been any photos released on the second major attraction just yet, we do know that it’s called Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, and will allow guests to join the battle between the Resistance and the First Order. Come on, Disney, you can’t tease us like this!

“Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge” will launch in summer of 2019 at Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California, and in fall of 2019 at the Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida.

In addition to these themed attractions, Galaxy’s Edge is also said to feature blue milk in addition to other Star Wars-themed fare and beverages as well as Batuu’s Marketplace. You’ll also have the opportunity to sync up with Disney’s Play Disney Parks app to create your very own personalized Star Wars stories.
