Guest Stunned To Receive Charge For Extra Slice Of Wedding Cake

As a wedding guest, you probably expect to be catered to all night. Sure, you’re not the bride or groom, but as a guest of the big day, chances are you’re going to get to enjoy some good food, drinks and music.

In return, you give the happy couple a gift. Sometimes, you’ll have to pay for alcoholic beverages if the couple chose a guest bar. But never do you have to pay for your meal. If you go to a wedding, it’s always implied that your food is taken care of.

However, one wedding went viral on Reddit for charging their guests for each slice of cake! That’s right—the guests couldn’t eat a piece of wedding cake unless they paid for it.

The couple charged their guests £3.66 for each slice of the wedding cake they ate. And when one person snagged two pieces, the couple didn’t let them get away with it without paying up for the second.

“Hey so we were just looking at the CCTV and saw that you had two pieces of the wedding cake. We announced that each guest must pay per slice and noticed that you only paid for the one. Can you please send £3.66 asap,” read a text from the couple to the guest.

Apparently, the couple had announced on the day of the wedding that guests would need to pay for their wedding cake slices if they wanted to have any.

“I had a couple of beers by this point so didn’t think much of it,” the guest who ate two pieces of cake said of the couple announcing the rule. “Some of the guests were really disappointed by it, though, one actually said that the cake wasn’t worth what they were charging and asked for an invoice from the cake makers to see if they were actually making a profit from it, Turns out they can’t find the receipt!”

It was a pretty big point of concern for most guests who attended the wedding. “Thought it was a joke but then when people were queuing for the cake, people had to go back to their tables to get cash,” the poster explains.

People who saw the post couldn’t believe this really happened.

“I would 100% not do anything to have to pay for things at someone’s wedding,” someone wrote. “Being told the day of that we as guests have to help cover the cost of your event? You can f*ck right off.”

“How are they not embarrassed?” someone questioned.

“So tack and rude,” another person stated. “If you can’t afford a wedding, don’t have one.”

Have you ever heard of charging your guests per slice of wedding cake? What do you think of this rule?
