Mom Leads Blind and Autistic Son to the Piano and Absolutely No One Was Prepared for the Stunning Performance That Followed

The saying goes not to judge a book by its cover, but this can be easier said than done in life sometimes. However, if you ever find yourself judging someone based on your first impression, perhaps the story of Kodi Lee will remind you to never do that again.

Kodi Lee went on America’s Got Talent when he was 22 years old. Unlike other performers, he had his mom come on stage with him. As his mom explained to the judges, Kodi is blind and autistic. It’s hard for him to live in this world, but for him, music changes everything.

We’ve seen all sorts of amazingly talented people on America’s Got Talent, and some of them even get the golden buzzer. In fact, one 11-year-old girl actually received the golden buzzer twice. That’s pretty incredible, right?

There’s nothing more exciting than having someone surprise you in a very good way. From the expressions on the judges faces, it didn’t look like they were expecting too much from Kodi. They didn’t seem very excited to listen to him perform, but they were polite.

Once Kodi sat down at the piano and started to sing, the expressions on the judges instantly changed. Every single one of the four judges perked up and looked shocked at what they were witnessing. They clearly weren’t expecting such an exceptional voice.

Kodi’s mom stood at the side of the stage, and she clearly looked happy for her son. He was singing his heart out.

After Kodi was done performing, every single person in the audience stood and cheered. All four judges gave him a standing ovation as well.

Kodi’s mom once again joined her son on stage. She explained to him that all of the cheering was for him.

Obviously, the judges were impressed, but how impressed were they? Would it be enough?

Howie Mandel said,

You were wonderful. Not only do we feel the authenticity of what you do, but you’re a great inspiration and a great talent, and it was amazing.

Julinanne Hough added,

I really feel your heart, your passion, your voice blew all of us away.

We all know what a tough critic Simon Cowell can be, but Kodi had won him over too. Simon said,

To see what just happened there was extraordinary, I mean really extraordinary…Your voice is absolutely fantastic. You have a really beautiful tone…I’m going to remember this moment for the rest of my life.
