Earlier this year, the podcast “Behind the Velvet Rope” interviewed Anne Heche. After her death, “The Rope” released an except of the podcast on YouTube, and some of the things Heche had to say are quite revealing.

During the beginning of the excerpt “The Rope” asks Heche who she would want to portray a younger version of herself in a movie about her life. Heche was ready with an answer. She immediately replied, “Miley Cyrus or Kirsten Bell. I’ve already thought about it.”

Heche had very good reasons for picking those two actresses. She explained that both of them “share a personality ability to face the world the way that I would want…I feel like I have and I would want portrayed.”

Heche went on to explain what it was about each particular actress that stuck out to her. She was very impressed with Cyrus’s acting ability on the TV show “Hannah Montana.” She was also impressed with Cyrus’s singing ability. She explained that it’s “the way she moves, the way she sings, her compassion.”

As far as why Heche is impressed with Bell, she explained, “Kristen Bell gave me my second Emmy nomination. She and I played mother and daughter in a Lifetime movie years ago.” The movie Heche was referring to was the 2004 movie “Gracie’s Choice.” Heche went on to describe Bell as a “reflection” of herself. She said, “I see myself a lot in her.” She added, “I don’t think it’s any mistake I played her mom, and I want her to play me.”

Heche did not foreshadow her death. It seemed that she was thinking of Cyrus or Bell portraying a younger version of herself while she’s still alive. She even suggested that she play her own mother.

After discussing who Heche would want to portray her in a movie, the conversation shifted to mental health and Heche’s book “Call Me Crazy.” Heche said, “Hello, I’m like the number one person to talk to about mental health.”

It seems Heche was working on a sequel to “Call Me Crazy” which would have been titled “Call Me Sane.” She explained, “‘Call Me Sane’ is the antidote.” She explained that the new book would “give steps and some processes and some practices that could help us reidentify with ourselves more quickly, with a little less pain, and with support around you that can answer some questions.”

At the end of the interview, Heche was asked what she believes is the “biggest misconception” about her. She answered, “The biggest misconception is that I’m crazy.”
