What NOT to Buy in November

There are lots for great opportunities for finding deals in the month of November, but there are definitely some purchases you’ll want to stay away from this month if you’re looking to save money. Let’s take a look at some of the worst buys of the month:

Fine Jewelry

If you’re one of the many people planning to get engaged over the holidays, then you’ll want to wait on getting a diamond ring (or any other fine jewelry) until after Black Friday. According to Bankrate:

“A lot of people get engaged in December,” [Daniel] Butler,[ vice president of retail operations for the National Retail Federation], says. For fine jewelry, “December is by far the biggest month — it can be 30 (percent) to 35 percent of a jeweler’s sales for the year.” Because of the competition for that demand, discounts on fine jewelry can be found as the holiday shopping season kicks off, he says.

Apparel

Unless you take advantage of Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals, you’ll want to wait until January to buy winter clothing at a discount. After the holidays, stores will be reducing prices for clothing, so use those gift cards you get as gifts and hit the stores for less expensive clothing at the beginning of next year.

Electronics Before Black Friday

You’re only a couple weeks away from the some of the best electronics deals of the year, so just wait a bit longer. Otherwise, you might pay full price for products that will soon be deeply discounted.

Anything Holiday Related

It’s prime time for things like ornaments and holiday decorations, so if you can put off buying these kinds of items until after December 25th, your wallet will definitely be better off. Pull out the decorations you’ve save from last year and invest in new stuff for next year when the holidays are over this year.
