Brian Wilson was born on June 20, and to celebrate his birthday, we’re sharing very rare footage of the recording of the Beach Boys’s hit song “Good Vibrations.

The song was written and produced by Brian, and recorded by Brian, the rest of the Beach Boys, and sessions musicians known as The Wrecking Crew. The song was inspired by a story Brian’s mother told him about when he was a child, saying that dogs sometimes bark at people in response to their bad vibrations. Brian was fascinated by this concept, hence the song “Good Vibrations”.
