Follow These 7 “Odd” Tips for Soft, Smooth Skin, Even in the Winter!

Though winter can be a reflective, joyous, and even romantic time of year, the harsh, cold conditions usually do absolutely nothing for your skin—and we all know that having moisturized, clear skin in those Christmas photos is at the top of all of our lists! That’s why we’re sharing some frigid weather skincare tips with you today direct from YouTube beauty guru Jennifer Chiu.

Jennifer is known for sharing “odd” tricks with her massive following. Though her ideas may seem unconventional, we can certainly attest to the fact that they WORK. And, best of all, some of these beauty hacks are either DIY or super inexpensive. Score!

So, without further ado, here are some of the best ways to keep your skin glowing and well-nourished this holiday season.

  1. DIY Dermaplaning

Our host recommends this helpful 2-in-1 DIY skincare treatment for those who have peach fuzz, as well as flaky, dry skin. This method will get rid of all of those excess baby hairs AND slough away dead skin.

Simply grab a handheld razor (Jennifer uses an eyebrow razor in her demonstration), and gently run over your face in short, upward strokes. Along with working as an exfoliator, this routine will also ensure that your topical skincare products absorb even deeper into your skin. Win-win!

  2. Oil Cleansers

These revolutionary facial cleansers have been a hit in Asia for years, and now they are just starting to make their mark here in the U.S. Though this oil method isn’t always great for the summer, it gives you INSTANT dewy results, even in the coldest and driest weather.

Our host addresses the use of the cringeworthy term “oil cleanser” in the video. We agree, it does sound like the stuff will give you an immediate breakout, but it actually does a much better job of removing those nasty acne catalysts, like dirt and makeup, than traditional cleanser. To apply, simply massage in outward circular motions to the face—this helps promote circulation!

  3. Use a Humidifier

The surefire way to keep more moisture in during the winter months is by running a humidifier in your home. It’s not just healthy for your sinuses—it makes your skin look great too!

Jennifer recommends plugging one of these bad boys in, in your bedroom, and running it when you sleep. You should wake up to refreshed and conditioned skin. Awesome!
