Let’s be real, nothing is better than breakfast food. If we had it our way, it would be all breakfast food all the time. And when it comes to breakfast foods, pancakes are undeniably our number one pick. So, actually, it would be pancakes all the time.
Well, with one exception: this cake.
Looking at the final pictures of this cake, you were probably as confused as we were. Upon first glance, it seems like we’re looking at a stack of delicious blueberry pancakes; they look fluffy, golden brown, and dripping with sweet maple syrup.
But if you were to cut into this stack of delicious flapjacks? You would find layers of moist cake mix, wild blueberry jam, and maple infused buttercream frosting.
So…not quite the traditional pancakes we’re used to. But dare we say maybe even a little better?
How To Cake It is going to show us just how they created these “faux haute cakes” with some pretty simple ingredients! You might be surprised just how easy it was for them to whip up this impressive stack of cakes within a cake. (Would we call that cake-ception, perhaps?)

Even if this recipe is a bit beyond your skill level, this is still such a fun video to watch! As a fan of baking (although a recipe like THIS is far out of my league) I love to watch creative, impressive desserts like this get created. It’s incredible to see the step-by-step process which eventual leads to this incredible end result.
It’s pretty hypnotizing to watch, honestly!
One thing we really love is how organic this process was. Because not all pancakes are perfectly round and not all pads of butter are perfectly square, to actually make this look like a REAL stack of pancakes, this baking processes couldn’t be too perfect.
Usually when it comes to these high-end cake designs, everything is perfect; every line is perfectly straight and every hue is 100% on point. So it was very refreshing to see this cool, realistic cake design that required some sense of realism!
