This all-natural sports drink recipe is made with real ingredients, which means lower sugar, lower sodium, lower…everything! Chef John of Food Wishes brings us this recipe which he calls “Greaterade”…I bet you can guess why. This DIY sports drink is just like the ones you know and love only greater! The recipe below makes about 9 cups of “Greaterade”, so you can make these batches in bulk for the warm spring and summer months to come.

HOMEMADE SPORTS DRINK – A.K.A. “GREATERADE”

INGREDIENTS

– 8 cups fresh cold water
– 3 tablespoons honey, or other sweetener to taste
– 1/2 teaspoon fine *pink salt (mine was coarsely ground, so I used a rounded 1/2 teaspoon)
– 3/4 teaspoon calcium magnesium powder (this is the one I used)
– Pinch cayenne
– 3/4 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
– 2 lemons, juiced
– 2 limes, juiced
