What’s a better snack than Jell-O? How about Jell-O that creates an adorable scene? That’s what Yoyomax12 does with this adorable idea, making gelatin cup that look like miniature aquariums. Dive in and watch how easy this treat is to make!

You’ll Need

– 4 cups white cranberry or white grape juice
– 3 envelopes unflavored gelatin powder
– Gummy fish
– Fruit cocktail, chopped (optional)
– Cucumber peel
– Blue food coloring (if desired)

How To

  1. In a small bowl, sprinkle the gelatin powder over 1 cup of the white cranberry juice and allow it to sit for 2 minutes.
  2. In a medium saucepan, bring the remaining 3 cups of juice to a boil. Add the gelatin-juice mixture and stir until the gelatin is dissolved.
  3. Allow the mixture to cool to room temperature, then stir in blue food coloring to achieve your desired shade.
  4. Place a tablespoon of the chopped-up fruit cocktail into the bottom of four 8-ounce clear cups or glasses. (You can leave this out if you want just “water” and fish.)
  5. Pour the juice-gelatin mixture into the cups until they’re about 3/4 full. Save about 1/4 cup of the liquid and set it aside. This will be used to smooth off the tops after inserting the fish.
  6. Place the cups in the refrigerator and allow the gelatin to partially set.
  7. Use a knife or skewer to make a hole in the gelatin, then insert the gummy fish and/or cucumber peel “seaweed” in the holes. Repeat until you like the look of your “aquariums.”
  8. Spoon some of the reserved liquid over the tops of the cups after inserting the fish to smooth it out.
  9. Allow to set completely.

Cute! These look they’d be a great alternative to cupcakes at party, don’t you think? What occasions do you think they’d fit? Will you make these edible aquariums for your kids?
