How to Quickly and Easily Remove Tarnish from Silver Jewelry

Melissa from CMS shows us the magic way to make your silver jewelry look good as new, and she demonstrates it on two necklaces, a bracelet, and a very tarnished silver ring. All the jewelry comes from different places and has various levels of real silver in it.

Just goes to show that this method can clean up whatever kind of silver you’ve got, no matter what shape it’s in!

How to Clean Tarnished Silver

Materials

  • Bowl
  • Aluminum Foil
  • Salt
  • 1 tbsp Baking Soda
  • 1/2 Cup Boiling Water
  • 1/2 White Vinegar

Instructions

  1. Line the bottom of a bowl with aluminum foil.
  2. Add salt and baking soda.
  3. Add boiling water and white vinegar.
  4. Put each piece of silver into the mixture, making sure it touches the aluminum. Let soak for five minutes.
  5. Remove the silver and use a microfiber cloth to dry and polish the jewelry.
