Read This Before You Buy Foundation

Picking the perfect makeup can be a daunting challenge, especially when it comes to foundation. Makeup is meant to flatter, but not every foundation will for every skin tone.

With so many unique tones in the world, it is very difficult to find a product perfectly matching your specific skin. To make matters more complicated, our faces are not the same tone all the way across; there are bound to be some areas that are darker or lighter than the rest of your skin.

But there are some tricks to get as close as you possibly can with your foundation.

Glamrs shows us an easy little trick and gives us some valuable advice for choosing the right foundation for you. We’re going to share a few of our favorite tips below, but make sure you watch the video below to get all the handy tricks you possibly can.

1. Understand Undertones

Every one of us has undertones to our skin, either warm or cool. It might seem complicated, but an easy way to tell is to see what color you have most in your skin.

If you have more yellow in your skin, you have warm undertones.

If you have blue or pink in your skin, you have cool undertones.

The best thing to do is to check with the beauty consultant at the makeup counter, as they’ll be able to give you an objective opinion.

2. Mix Shades

If you’re having a hard time finding a shade that’s not too dark or too light, don’t be afraid to mix shades! People seem to think this is taboo, but there’s nothing wrong with mixing shades until you find one that melts right into your skin.

3. Ask for Samples

Before you go buying expensive bottles of foundation, make sure to pick up samples of various types of foundation and various shades. Make sure to wear each sample for a full day to see which one wears and blends best.
