9 Sizzling Summer Date Night Ideas That Won’t Blow Your Budget

In a dating rut? No worries. Even if funds are tight, there are endless possibilities for things to do in the summer. Here are 9 of our best ideas.

Go On a Picnic

There’s nothing like eating outside on a warm summer day or night. Prepare a romantic picnic with all of the necessities (blanket, yummy food, perhaps a bottle of wine) and head to your local park, the beach, or even your own yard. Enjoy a lazy meal connecting with your significant other outdoors.

Take a Hike

Head to your nearest National Park or other ideal location and take a hike (literally). You’ll get to enjoy nature with some excellent company.

Partner Up with Other Couples for Pub Trivia

Pub trivia is a really fun date idea (especially if you’re both competitive). Before you go, just make sure you eat dinner at home so you won’t be tempted to spend money on bar food. Then you can order a cheap drink while you play for free. Gather some couples to join you or go as a team of 2. Some of my favorites are Stump! Trivia and Geeks Who Drink. Just find a location that features trivia near you and put on your game face.

Pick Fruit from a Farm

Just a few weeks ago, some friends of mine went to a strawberry farm to pick fruit together. Then they went home and made some yummy strawberry shortcakes for dessert that night. It doesn’t have to be strawberries, but you can get out to a farm or farmers’ market, find a fruit that you love or would love to try, and try creating something with it when you get home.

Tour a Brewery

Lots of brewery tours are free – all you need to do is show up, sign up, and start tasting! You could enjoy a lovely date learning something new about beer and getting to discuss the samples you’re trying.

Visit a Flea Market or Thrift Store

Do you both like hands-on projects? Then a great date might be heading to a flea market, thrift store or yard sale. Find something old that you could update and transform into something new.

Experiment with Cocktails

Have a little contest to see who can create the best cocktail with the ingredients that you have on hand in your home bar. Here are some ideas for inspiration.

Hit the Beach

We couldn’t, of course, talk about summer dates without including the beach. There’s just so much you can do on a day at the beach. And if you’ve had enough sun, head to the beach at night for a nice stroll on the sand under the stars.
