5 Steps for Better Brows from a Professional

1. your face shape. in art class this is how you draw a face:
pull your hair back.
stand in front of a mirror.
measure the width of your eye, a balanced face has the equivalent of 5 eyes across your face and the width of one eye is between your eyes. your face has the height of 3 nose lengths. your ears usually end at the bottom of your nose. your ears, nose and mouth are usually the same length.

take a straight edge {ruler} and place on the outside edge of your nostril. straight up should be the inside edge of your eyebrow. take the ruler and place on the outside edge of your lip straight up should be the middle of your eye. place the straight edge at the corner of the nose or lip and hold it to the outside edge of the eye. this gives you the ending point of the eyebrow. mark it with a dot of eyeliner pencil.

2. look at your eye. there are 3 parts to your eye. corner to edge of iris. iris. and outside edge of iris to outside corner of eye.

3. the weight of the brow is in the first third.
corner of the eye to to the inside corner of the iris.that is where you start your arch where the iris starts. the colored part of the eye. next is to determine your arch placement. if you are under 40 then place the top of the arch in line with the outside corner of the lip and the center of the iris. if you are over 40 or you want to lift the eyebrow ever so then place the top of the arch at the outside edge of the iris. then the balance of the arch is in the last 3rd of the eye. end it at the pencil mark from the last step.

4. if you have strong features and contrast to your face. example: light skin with dark hair heavier brows with larger features are more in balance. if you have delicate features and smaller features finer and more delicate brows balance the face.

5. if you are not sure you have them the same on each side, take a piece of clear plastic. something that has firmness to it not plastic wrap. cut a strip say, 2 inches by 4 inches, and place it over your favorite brow. doesn’t matter which one but the one you like, take an eyebrow pencil and trace the shape of the brow on to the plastic form. the take the plastic and flip it {the side you drew on is now on the skin}
and place it on the other eyebrow. that way you can see if they match.

fashion dictates all types of brows but if you follow these steps your brow will be balanced to your face. i do browwaxing for a living this is how i teach my staff to wax and shape brows.
