The World’s Best Hotel for 2019 is a Treehouse-Style Resort in the Costa Rican Rainforest

The Tulemar Bungalows & Villas is located in Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica. It has a private beach and is located adjacent to a rainforest. There is even a non-profit sloth rehabilitation organization on-site called The Slot Institute of Costa Rica. That’s right. You can learn about sloths without even having to leave the resort. Talk about unique!

There are a variety of unique and stunning accommodation options. For travelers on a budget, there are 1-bedroom rooms starting at $195 per night. Even the smallest room which sleeps 2 people, has a king-size bed, a full kitchen and a deck with an ocean view.


Larger 1-bedroom accommodations which sleep up to 5 are great for small families. Prices start at $250 per night. These classic bungalows have two queen beds and a trundle bed in the living room. They also have a kitchenette and ocean views.

If you have a larger family, there are 2 and 3-bedroom options starting at $450 per night. These villas sleep up to 11 guests. The Casa de las Flores has floor-to-ceiling windows and 2 balconies with sliding glass doors while the Premium 3-Bedroom Villa boasts nearly 3,000 square feet, an open-air shower, and a private jacuzzi.

If money is no object, you want to know about the private villas which start at $4000 per night. The Casa Las Nubes has its own private infinity pool and ocean views from the 4 bedroom suites. This one is not for families with little kids since kids 10 and under are not allowed.


No matter which suite or villa you choose, you can enjoy all of the amenities that the 33-acre gated Tulemar resort has to offer. There are hiking trails on the resort property, and you can view monkeys and birds in addition to sloths. There are free lounge chairs for your use on the private beach. There is also a restaurant on site.

Although you wouldn’t need to, if you want to explore more than just the resort, you can easily walk to stores and restaurants in Manuel Antonio.
