When Courtney Mahnken was just 14-years old she told her mom that she was in love. The young teen had her very first boyfriend, and felt that she knew what love felt like. Her mom didn’t believe the relationship would last, but she insisted on meeting her boyfriend’s parents before letting her daughter go over to his house.
Mahnken reluctantly agreed. She explained that her mom is Italian and has no filter, so she was worried that her mom would say something embarrassing. This first meeting between Mahnken’s mom and her boyfriend’s mom did not go at all how anyone expected.
As soon as Mahnken’s mom saw the boyfriend’s mom, she said, “Oh my god, you look so familiar. Where did you give birth?”
“You look so familiar” may not be all that unusual of a way to start a conversation but the question “Where did you give birth” is certainly a strange thing to ask someone you just met. The thing is, this wasn’t the first time these two women had met.
As Mahnken shared in a TikTok video, it turned out that their moms had given birth at the same hospital, and they were both there at the same time. They gave birth within 24 hours of each other which means that Mahnken and her boyfriend had actually first met the day they were born. Mahnken’s boyfriend’s last name starts with “Mo” so since their last names were so similar, they were even right next to each other in the baby room.
Mahnken mentioned in the TikTok video that this was her first boyfriend, so she must have had other boyfriends along the way; however, she kept in touch with her first boyfriend and they started dating again along the way.
It is now 12 years since they first started dating in their school days, and the couple is now engaged. Mahnken is a teacher, and her fiancee popped the question at the school where she teaches.

TikTok users believe it is fate that this couple is now engaged. One person wrote, “Universe literally said ‘together forever.'”
Another comment reads, “This is so romantic stop it.”
Other TikTok users joked (or perhaps they were serious) about calling the hospital where they were born so they could find their soulmate.
Since TikTok users are so invested in this romantic story, Mahnken also posted her engagement video.
