Cameron Diaz Reveals Why She Quit Acting In Recent Interview with Gwyneth Paltrow

For most of us, we can only imagine what it must be like to be in the public eye all the time. Being a celebrity is something that many people dream about, but if that dream becomes a reality, it may not be what you’d expect.

Some people set out to pursue a career like acting or music because it’s simply something they enjoy, and for the lucky few who strike it big time, they find pretty much everything about their lives becoming public. This can be pretty intense and uncomfortable for some people.

Recently, Cameron Diaz sat down for an interview with her friend Gwyneth Paltrow and discussed her acting career, or rather, why she is no longer acting. Diaz hasn’t starred on screen since the 2014 movie “Annie”.

Diaz shared that the decision to stop acting was intentional. She wanted to spend more time with family and friends, and she wanted to take care of herself.

“I just decided that I wanted different things out of my life. I had gone so hard for so long, working, making films and it’s such a grind. I didn’t really make any space for my personal life.”

Diaz described public life as “intense,” saying, “There’s a lot of energy coming at you at all times when you’re really visible as an actor and doing press and putting yourself out there.” In contrast, when she stepped away from acting, she felt relief.

Paltrow asked her what it felt like to leave behind a successful movie career, and Diaz replied, “A peace. I got a peace in my soul.”

Diaz has definitely been keeping busy since she stopped acting. In 2015, she married singer Benji Madden, and earlier this year, they welcomed their daughter, Raddix Madden, into the world. Diaz has also written two books, “The Body Book” and “The Longevity Book.”

Do you think it would be fun to be a celebrity? Does it surprise you that Cameron Diaz would have no regrets about walking away from a successful career? Do you think Diaz will return to Hollywood someday?
